Complete a program application:

  • Transcript
  • Letter(s) of recommendation
  • Personal statement
  • Apply for a passport or make sure that yours will not expire before your trip. Important to do this early as it can take over a month to get your passport!
Once you're accepted:

Complete the necessary paperwork:

  • Permission to study abroad form
  • Study abroad procedures form

Obtain the necessary documents:

Obtain international health insurance or make sure you are covered abroad under your current provider.
Talk to a financial aid counselor regarding study abroad, specifically the availability of scholarships, loans, and grants as well as limits of your current financial aid package.
Apply for scholarships.
Pay UM tuition or program fee.

Change your address in Testudo.

Once you arrive,
Notify the Engineering Special Programs Office of your arrival.
Upon returning home,
Schedule a re-entry interview with the Engineering Special Programs Office.
Complete a re-entry survey.
Optional: Write a brief essay about your experience and provide a few photos to be posted on the International Engineering Programs website.
