Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile Engineering Exchange Program

What is the PUC Exchange Program?

To prepare for the global job market tomorrow, successful engineering students today are required to have not only a good academic standing and a firm knowledge of the sciences, but they must also be familiar with the various cultures and regulations of the engineering industry abroad. The exchange program at PUC will provide interested engineering students with the opportunity to build on their knowledge in the field of engineering and at the same time introduce them to new cultures and lifestyles. This study abroad program is currently being offered to a variety of engineering students.

Why the PUC Exchange Program?

Santiago
from www.santiago.cl/
There are many other things one can do in the center of Santiago. For example, have a walk along the Paseo Ahumada, lined with street stalls selling trinkets and treats. At the end of that street, you will come across the recently refurbished Plaza de las Armas. Surrounded by Colonial buildings, the Plaza is full of street painters and musicians who perform all sorts of concerts on the spot.

Santiago has more than one face, and this is part of its attraction: modern shopping malls on one block and indigenous arts and crafts exhibitions on the other; street performances and juggling outside the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo (Museum of Contemporary Art); and visual art exhibitions in its many galleries and underground stations. Santiago is a city of vibrant contrasts between its different areas, with a truly fascinating cultural and architectural diversity

A City for All Seasons

from www.santiago.cl/
Santiago boasts an ideal climate, which explains why 80% of the population lives here. © santiago.cl/The seasons are well defined, with hot summers (82ºF to 90ºF); fall and spring with cool, pleasant breezes; and short winters with low temperatures, only occasionally dipping below 0ºC (32ºF).

Winter daytime temperatures may reach 64ºF but usually hover around 57ºF. Rainfall, generally restricted to the winter months, increases towards the south. Humidity is low, reducing the disagreeable effects of heat and cold.

PUC

Located in a young and geographically distant country, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile believes that maintaining an active exchange program with foreign universities is crucial for its academic development. This interest has led to the establishment of exchange agreements with more than two hundred and sixty universities in 40 countries around the world. Each year a growing number of students, largely from the United States, Europe and Asia come to study here and many PUC students have the same experience abroad.

It is an important national center of research in social science, natural sciences, health, economics, engineering, agriculture, philosophy, theology, arts and letters. In addition, its research activities enable it to support doctoral programs and to create an intellectually stimulating educational environment.
