International: Semester/Year Study Abroad Programs
City University of Hong Kong (CityU) Exchange Program
What is the CityU Exchange Program?
To prepare for the global job market tomorrow, successful engineering students today are required to have not only a good academic standing and a firm knowledge of the sciences, but they must also be familiar with the various cultures and regulations of the engineering industry abroad. The exchange program at the City University of Hong Kong will provide interested engineering students with the opportunity to build on their knowledge in the field of engineering and at the same time introduce them to new cultures and lifestyles. This study abroad program is currently being offered to engineering students. Participants will spend one semester or one year of study at the CityU. Students who have interest in Asian cultures are suggested to apply for this program.
Why the CityU Exchange Program?
The Food
from www.discoverhongkong.com
Many of Hong Kong's districts boast a unique selection of food. Hong Kong's more than 9,000
restaurants offer almost every cuisine under the sun, and as you would expect, good Chinese restaurants are found everywhere. Some of the best can be found in major hotels and shopping complexes. Most specialize in one or more of the following: Cantonese, Chiu Chow, Hunan, Szechwan, Peking, Shanghainese or Chinese Vegetarian. As an international city, many cultures and tastes are represented in Hong Kong's world of dining. Enjoy fine dining or casual family-style meals in some of Hong Kong's Eastern and Western restaurants.
The Beaches
from www.fodors.com
Hong Kong is not known for its beaches, but it's surrounded by hundreds of them and has a thriving
sunbathing culture. About 40 of the beaches around Hong Kong and its outlying islands are "gazetted" -- cleaned and maintained by the government, with services that include lifeguards, floats, and swimming-zone safety markers. Swimming is extremely popular with Hong Kongers, which means locals pack most beaches on summer weekends and public holidays. The more popular beaches, such as Repulse Bay, are busy day and night throughout summer.
The Festivals
from www.discoverhongkong.com
Experiencing a major Chinese festival in Hong Kong is a unique opportunity. Hong Kong's major
traditional festivals are colorful and noisy affairs, at which thousands upon thousands of people turn out to join the celebrations. Fireworks, festive feasting, lion and dragon dancers, incense smoke, Chinese opera, mah jong, fortune-telling, carnivals and parades come together in a variety of combinations to create a festive atmosphere like nowhere else in the world. The festivals are among the best ways to experience the unique culture of this modern East-meets-West destination, and festivals happen throughout the year.
