Study Abroad Study Abroad Recommendations for Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Students

Most engineering study abroad programs require that students have attained junior standing (60 credits) and have completed their 100 and 200 level basic science courses (CHEM, MATH, PHYS), as well as the 100 and 200 level ENES courses (ENES 100, 102, 230).

The Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering recommends that chemical engineering students complete the following courses at the University of Maryland. The chemical engineering undergraduate director may approve other courses on a case-by-case basis.

ENCH 215 - Chemical Eng Analysis
ENCH 250 - Computer Methods in Chem Eng
ENCH 300 - Chem Process Thermodynamics
ENCH 333 - Chem Eng Seminar
ENCH 422 - Transport Processes I
ENCH 440 - Chem Eng Kinetics
ENCH 444 - Process Eng Econ & Design I
ENCH 446 - Process Eng Econ & Design II

With approval, any of the following chemical engineering degree requirements could be completed abroad.

ENCH 442 - Chem Eng Systems Analysis
ENCH 424 - Transport Processes II
ENCH 426 - Transport Processes III
ENCH 437 - Chem Eng Lab
ENCH 4xx - Chemical Engineering technical electives
CHEM 481 - Physical Chem I
CHEM 482 - Physical Chem II
CHEM 483 - Physical Chem Lab I
CHEM 4xx - Senior level Chemistry elective
