Study Abroad Recommendations for Mechanical Engineering Students

Most engineering study abroad programs require that students have attained junior standing (60 credits) and have completed their 100 and 200 level basic science courses (CHEM, MATH, PHYS), as well as the 100 and 200 level ENES courses (ENES 100, 102, 220, 221).

The Department of Mechanical Engineering recommends that mechanical engineering students complete the following courses at the University of Maryland.

ENME 271 - Intro to MatLab
ENME 350 - Electronics & Instrumentation I
ENME 351 - Electronic & Instrumentation II
ENME 371 - Product Eng & Manufacturing
ENME 472 - Integrated Product & Process Development

With approval, any of the following mechanical engineering degree requirements could be completed abroad.

ENME 232 - Thermodynamics
ENME 331 - Fluid Mechanics
ENME 332 - Transfer Processes
ENME 361 - Vibration, Controls, & Optimization I
ENME 462 - Vibration, Controls & Optimization II
ENME 382 - Eng Materials & Manufacturing Process
ENME 392 - Stat Methods for Product & Process Development
Technical Electives (see Departmental Advisor for a listing of possible technical electives and approval)
