Study Abroad Study Abroad Recommendations for Materials Science and Engineering Students

Most engineering study abroad programs require that students have attained junior standing and have completed their 100 and 200 level basic science courses (CHEM, MATH, PHYS), as well as the 100 and 200 level ENES courses (ENES 100, 102, 230).

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering recommends that materials science and engineering students complete the following courses at the University of Maryland.

ENMA 310 - Structures Laboratory
ENMA 311 - Electrical & Magnetics Lab
ENMA 363 - Micro-processing
ENMA 463 - Macro-processing
ENMA 490 - Materials Design
ENRE 489B - Principles of Quality Reliability

With approval, any of the following materials science and engineering degree requirements could be completed abroad

ENMA 362 - Mechanical Properties
ENMA 460 - Physics of Materials
ENMA 461 - Thermodynamics
ENME 471 - Kinetics
CHEM 233 - Organic Chemistry I or CHEM 481 - Physical Chemistry I
ENEE 204 - Basic Circuit Theory
TECH 4XX - Technical Electives
