New! Politecnico di Milano, Italy
Spend the spring semester in Milan, Italy, studying engineering courses in English and learning about Italian language and culture. This program is being offered for the first time during the Spring 2010 semester. Institut National des Sciences Appliquées of Toulouse (INSA), France
Study in the spring semester in Toulouse, France. A special program for international students offers coursework in English related to Electrical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, and Aero-Mechanics. Space is limited, so students are encouraged to apply early. Application deadline: October 30.
Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Spain
Spend a semester or year studying in Valencia, Spain. Coursework is offered in multiple engineering disciplines, with select classes instructed in English. An intensive Spanish language program is available to students, allowing them to increase their proficiency before classes begin.
Technical University of Denmark (DTU)
Study just outside of Copenhagen, Denmark, for a semester or year. Coursework offered in most engineering disciplines. Application deadline October 15 for spring semester study abroad and March 15 for fall semester study.
University of Manchester, United Kingdom
Study abroad for a semester or a year. Courses offerings in multiple engineering disciplines as well as general education courses. Application deadline October 15 for spring semester study abroad and March 15 for fall semester study.
Maryland-in-London, United Kingdom
Study abroad for a semester or a year. Courses are available primarily in electrical engineering at London Metropolitan University, and enrollment in two British studies courses is required. Engineering internships may also be available. Application deadline for fall or year study is April 16.
Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway
Study abroad for a semester or a year. Courses available in English in several engineering disciplines as well as general education courses. Application deadline is October 1 for spring semester study abroad and March 15 for fall semester study.
Engineering and German Double Degree
Study and work in Germany as a senior after completing engineering and German coursework at Maryland.
East Asia
Study abroad for a semester or a year at the City University of Hong Kong, located in one of the world’s most modern and metropolitan cities. Courses are offered in many engineering disciplines, and paid summer internships may also be available to engineering students.

Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), South Korea
Study abroad for a semester or a year in Seoul. Courses available in English in several engineering disciplines, and a knowledge of Korean is appreciated but not required. Application for fall semester/year exchange is March 2, and October 2 for spring semester study.
Australia & New Zealand
Study Australia/Study New Zealand (external site)
Study in Australia or New Zealand for a semester or a year at one of 19 universities offered through this program. Coursework in most engineering disciplines is available, and students may participate in optional excursions within Australia and nearby Asian countries. April 1 is the application deadline for fall semester or year study, and November 1 is the deadline for spring semester study.
South America
Pontificia Universidad de Catolica-Chile
Study abroad for a semester or a year. Course offerings in multiple engineering majors. Fluency in Spanish language required. Application deadline for spring study abroad is October 15 and for fall study abroad is March 15.

Study abroad for a semester or a year in Australia, Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, or the United Kingdom. Application deadline for spring 2008 study abroad is September 30.
International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) (external site)
IAESTE is an international network that coordinates on-the-job training For additional program offerings, for students in Engineering and the Sciences. An IAESTE traineeship is a paid internship abroad. Positions are available in industry, research institutes and universities, consulting firms, labs, and other work environments.
