2008 Undergraduate Honors and Awards Ceremony
The Center for Minorities in Science and Engineering, along with The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and The Black Engineers Society hosted its 27th Annual Awards Banquet at the end of April. The following students were recognized as Eminent Scholars:

Several Inventis students were recently honored at the Clark School's 2008 Undergraduate Honors and Awards Ceremony.
Presented to Michael Levashov, the Department of Aerospace Engineering's Academic Achievement Award is presented to the graduating senior in the department who has attained the highest overall academic average. Michael, an Aerospace Honors student, is in the space track (with a second major in physics) and has maintained a 4.0 GPA. Michael plans to attend graduate school next year and study robotics control systems.
Presented to Alan Coleman, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Chair's Award is presented to a student for the most significant contribution to the department. Alan has served as President of the Engineering Student Council and as the ESC/SGA liaison for the American Society of Civil Engineers. Alan also completed the College Park Scholars Public Leadership program and has served as a Clark School Ambassador. He plans to work with Gilbane Building Company upon graduation this spring.
Presented to Christine McKay, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Chair's Award is presented for outstanding academic performance to a senior. Christine is a Computer Engineering major who is double majoring in Mathematics. She has maintained a 4.0 GPA and earned a University Honors Citation while participating in Eta Kappa Nu, Society of Women Engineers, and two summer research internship programs. Christine plans to pursue graduate study at Stanford or UC-Berkeley.
Presented to Bradley Eisenberg, the Department of Mechanical Engineering Academic Achievement Award is presented to the junior in the department who has attained the highest overall academic average. Brad was also the recipient of the Dinah Berman Memorial Award which is presented to an engineering student who has combined excellence with demonstrated leadership or service to the Clark School. Brad has 4.0 GPA and is a member of the University Honors Program, Pi Tau Sigma, Engineers Without Borders, QUEST, and the Ultimate Frisbee Team. Through QUEST, Brad developed a system called weBike, which will provide an innovative and environmentally friendly mode of transportation for members of the university community.
Presented to Stephanie Karpovitch, the Department of Mechanical Engineering Chairman's Award is presented for excellence in academics, outstanding service to the department, or leadership in the department. Stephanie has a 3.97 GPA and is a member of the University Honors Program and Clark School Ambassadors. She has served as an ENES 100 teaching fellow, Women in Engineering mentor, and student representative on the committee to select a new Dean. Upon graduation in the spring Stephanie will work for Lockheed Martin in Baltimore.
Presented to Jazalyn Duke, the A. James Clark School of Engineering Leadership Award is presented to a student for outstanding leadership in the Clark School. Jazalyn has maintained a 3.97 GPA while earning a minor in Statistics and University Honors Citation. Currently she is the President of the Engineering Student Council; she has also served as the secretary and vice president of ESC, banquet chair for the Black Engineers Society, Clark School Ambassador, and officer in the American Society of Civil Engineers. Next year Jazalyn plans to attend graduate school at Georgia Tech, University of Illinois or Stanford.
